NOTE: This wiki is provided by the OASIS standards consortium as a collaborative tool for the OASIS DITA Learning and Training Content Specialization Subcommittee. Members of the Subcommittee are permitted to post to these pages (SC Members Page). As this is an official workspace of the TC, the OASIS IPR Policy and other OASIS rules apply to its use. |
To learn more about the work of the Subcommittee, send a comment, or join this effort, visit the OASIS DITA Learning and Training Content Specialization Subcommittee homepage. Prospective members of the subcommittee must first join the OASIS DITA Technical Committee (TC Members Page). |
Wiki pages are transient documents, so intermediate edits may not be saved. SC members should move all permanent work and stable artifacts to the SC's document repository, where the archival work product of the SC also can be viewed by the public. |

Welcome! The URL for this page is: http://wiki.oasis-open.org/dita/LearningSubcommittee
The formal name of the subcommittee is "The OASIS DITA Learning and Training Content Specialization Subcommittee".
Purpose
The OASIS DITA Learning Content Subcommittee has the following top-level goal:
- Develop a general top-level design for structured, intent-based authoring of learning content with good learning architecture, following DITA principles and best practices.
The DITA Learning Content SC wiki will support collaborative design work between and during meetings.
Current activities
We meet Thursdays at 11 am 12 noon US EST.
Our agenda for January, 2008 looks to build on the momentum of November 13, when the DITA Technical Committee voted to approve our submission of Design Proposal 12058 go to the DITA Technical Committee for inclusion in the formal design plan for DITA 1.2.
Our next steps: Identifying processing priorities and plans for addressing them with some specialized XSLT and a DITA Open Toolkit plugin.
Agenda for May 1, 2008 meeting - CANCELLED
- February 21: No Meeting
Status of the design and language specification
November 13 - The DITA TC votes to approve our submission of Design Proposal 12058 go to the DITA Technical Committee for inclusion of the DITA specialization for learning and training content in the formal design plan for DITA 1.2.
- These supporting documents are all available on OASIS.org, with Public access:
DITA Open Toolkit plugin with DTD and XSD schemas, sample content, and documentation sources
- Still under discussion by the TC is how a specializations get included in the standard, either as part of the "core" specification, or separately as a supported specialization.
November - December - We tackle processing, with primary target of SCORM and secondary target PDF, according to our Phased Design Plan. The processing would get delivered separately from the DTD/schema designs and language specification, and made available to the community as part of a DITA Open Toolkit plugin module on a schedule TBD.
Working discussion about processing targets and priorities
- Pick up our discussion about DITA to SCORM processing, specifically the processing template examples.
- Working SCORM packages for template samples 4A and 4B -
- See these notes and minutes of previous discussions -
