Introduction
Background
The OpenDocument Technical Committee began discussing enhanced metadata support in June, 2005, at the suggestion of Adobe. There is thus significant background behind this discussion. Important mailing list comments include an extended discussion by Adobe XMP engineer Alan Lillich.
In addition, some outside experts commented as well. Leigh Dodds, a well-respected expert in XML, RDF and web technologies, and engineering manager at Ingenta, wrote two extended weblog posts on the matter: Looking at XMP and OpenDocument and XMP. Bruce D'Arcus, now on the OpenDocument TC and Metadata SC, echoed similar themes in both weblog posts, as well as mailing list comments.
