DITA 2.0 Proposal Process

Approved by the OASIS DITA Technical Committee on 7 March 2017.

General

Process for using github issues and projects

  1. When a stage one proposal is presented to the TC with an email to the list, create a Stage 1 card to track it on the github project page: https://github.com/oasis-tcs/dita/projects/2?fullscreen=true

  2. When the stage 1 proposal is discussed at a TC meeting:
    • If no action is required (proposal will not move forward), remove the stage 1 card from the project page, and this process is complete
    • Otherwise (proposal moves to stage 2, or further action is anticipated), create an issue to track status: https://github.com/oasis-tcs/dita/issues

  3. Add a link from the project card to the issue using the issue number
  4. Update the issue to describe the stage 1 information (if this came from an email, it's enough to provide a good title and the link)
  5. Once an owner is assigned for the proposal, the project card must be updated to include the owners name (provides an easy way to track how many any TC member owns in stage 2 and 3)
  6. Each time the issue is discussed at a TC meeting, the issue should be updated with (at minimum) the date of discussion so that any discussion can be found in the minutes. This can be done by editing the original issue or by adding a comment.
  7. Dates that a proposal is voted to each stage should be noted in the original issue description for easy tracking.
