Overview of the DITA 1.2 Specification: Technical Content
[JTH, 29 November 2009] Revised this overview topic according to JOgden's suggestions. Should account for Hamilton's suggestions as well. No linking at this point.
[Hamilton, 13 November 2009]
- I had to read this twice before I realized that *this* section is the "dedicated section" for technical content. I would replace the first sentence with, "This section describes the DITA specializations for technical content."
- Overall (for the entire Technical content section): At this point it's really a low priority request, but I'm surprised that the spec for a schema that has so many capabilities for linking doesn't include more links. In particular, it would be useful to link some of the descriptions of elements (especially the high level elements like task and concept) to their topics in the language reference. This can be done in the stylesheets if the markup of elements is clean (I haven't checked the DITA markup of the spec, so I don't know if the markup is clean enough to do this).
Overall: This is mentioned under "General task topic," but is worth a note here. The description of syntax varies from an actual formal syntax description of the <step> element in General task, to very vague English language descriptions elsewhere. Seems like there should be one way of describing the syntax that is used throughout.
[JTH, 25 October 2009] both done
[Eberlein, 1 October 2009] Remove the <title> for the single <section>
[Eberlein, 1 October 2009]
- Change "The components of the specializations for technical content include the following:" to "The technical content package includes the following items:"
- Use sentence-style capitalization for the list items
