EMA-TC Collateral & Documents SC Activities
C&D SC Report - 18 January 2010
- This was a special meeting called to discuss recommendations for format of OASIS Website for Vendor Products/Services per C. Geyer's email
- Carol Geyer walked us through the three sample formats
- spreadsheet
- search engine
- buyer guide
- We discussed the differences between these samples and how they would be used to reflect the sorting criteria already recommended to and adopted by the EMA TC.
- We came to a rough consensus but did not make a specific motion because we asked Carol to take our ideas and discuss options with the OASIS IT dept.
- Our sorting criteria seemed to assume a search engine-based format, but we thought that because we have only 15-20 vendors currently, it would be simpler and faster for the viewer if the information we specified in our sorting critera were columns in a spreadsheet of vendor products and-or services that would not entail setting up a more complex and programming intensive database-oriented approach for a search engine.
- We thought that an initial drop-down menu could allow the viewer to select the standard which would then bring up a spreadsheet-based table of products which support and-or implement that standard and bullets or checkmarks could indicate which of the columns representing our sorting criteria were achieved by a product or service; e.g. particpation in OASIS Interop Demo, listing in the US Responder Knowledge Base, etc.
- Several other arrangements were also discussed and it was not decided that the foregoing will be our recommendation.
- We discussed several ways in which vendors could maintain their listings and also asked Carol to discuss maintenance options with the IT dept since we want to recommend the optimal method for ensuring that our product-vendor directory is kept fresh and up to date.
