ODF New Proposal Template

Summary

Proposal owner:

Doug Mahugh

Proposal short name:

table:cell-range attribute

Rationale

Use cases:

Data labels currently support preset content types (value, percentages, etc.) and custom text, however, many user scenarios involve tying the data label contents to the contents of a cell in a spreadsheet. This allows for more dynamic annotation of a data point on a chart.

Alternatives considered:

None.

Requested changes to the ODF Standard

Text changes/additions (please state section numbers):

Propose modifying the first paragraph of section 10.12.0 of ODF 1.2 draft 6 to:

“The <chart:data-label> element represents the data label of a data point. With this element, the content, formatting properties and position of a data label can be defined manually. This element can contain fixed text or its table:cell-range attribute can point to the text that should be displayed as the data label. “

This would also require the following update to include reference to the table:cell-range attribute:

element-chart:data-label

The <chart:data-label> element may have the following attributes: chart:style-name 18.76, svg:x 18.926, svg:y 18.930 and table:cell-range 18.947.
The <chart:data-label> element may have the following child element: <text:p> 4.1.3.

Schema changes/additions:

<define name="chart-data-label-attlist" combine="interleave">
  <optional>
    <attribute name="table:cell-range">
      <ref name="cellRangeAddress"/>
    </attribute>
  </optional>
</define>
