Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) V1.1

SAML V1.1 is an older version of the OASIS SAML standard. It was approved on 2 September 2003. A press release commemorating this event was issued on 22 September 2003.

In February 2004, nearly a dozen vendors successfully took part in a SAML V1.1 interop lab at the RSA Conference in San Francisco. Features demonstrated included the browser/artifact and browser/POST scenarios for web single sign-on, along with specialized SSO scenarios provided by the U.S. General Services Administration's e-Gov e-Authentication initiative, which sponsored the event.

In October 2003, it was announced that the SSTC received an award at Digital ID World 2003 "for balancing innovation and reality".
